My Tattoos
I began drawing at a young age as most do, but never really cared to consider it a serious hobby until I was pushed to take an art class as an elective during my freshman year. Here is where I met my first art instructor Gene Chute. Gene was retiring at the end of the year but still had 100% dedication to teaching. I won't go into great detail on this first year as it was pretty standard, the basics - dark medium light, thick medium thin, etc etc. My second year was the first year for new instructor, and former student of Mr. Chute - Gary Simendinger. Gary soon became a figure of respect in my life, and what I would define as my first mentor. I credit a huge amount of the way I look at life to the lessons he taught and the conversations we had over then next three years as a formal teacher and the years that followed as a friend. Sadly, Gary lost control of his motocycle in 2005 and was killed.
These galleries wouldn't be possible without Gary as a teacher, and I dedicate them to him along with my wife and daughter, who continue to keep me inspired ever day.
